About the event
First in the series of "A Simple Life" journal making is creating the cover of your journal with textiles and embellishments by slow stitching your artwork. If you are curious about intuitive creating, love working with textiles and trinkets and want to explore fun ways to express yourself this workshop is for you!
What we provide
- A delicious kit made up of a mixture of hand selected fabrics and vintage pieces. Hand sewing basics ie one piece of backing fabric, cardboard insert, wadding, needle, pins and threads.
- Available for you to use on the day: Scissors.

- There will be a 15 minute break for morning tea.
What to bring (These are optional)
- Bring along a mixture of your small pieces of fabric including patterned, neutral and plain in the colours you envisage for your journal cover and that you are happy to tear apart ie old quilts, shirts and hand dyed fabrics that speak to you.
- Look for soft and pliable fabrics that will be pleasing to rework, treasured trinkets ie old buttons or broaches, the older the better, hand me downs, laces/ribbons/doilies you are happy to part with.
Next stage in the series
The next stage/workshop in the "A Simple Life" journal making series will be the "Waste Not Want Not" Workshop where we will be hand stitching together your journal cover, binding your signatures to make your journal and showing you tips and tricks on how to embellish your journal which will be held Sat, 8th June 2024 and Sat, 12th October 2024 at Hobby Sew Figtree.
